For one week every summer, Los Cabos trades a little of its usual beach-and-golf rhythm for packed stands, late-night matches and some very good tennis.
The Mifel Tennis Open by Telcel-Oppo returns from July 27 through August 1, 2026, celebrating its tenth anniversary on the ATP Tour. The tournament will once again take place at the Cabo Sports Complex in Cabo Real, along the Tourist Corridor between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo.
Over the past decade, the event has quietly grown into one of the highlights of the Los Cabos summer calendar. It attracts tennis fans, visitors and local residents, but it still feels relaxed and easy to enjoy—which is exactly what you would expect from a tournament held in Cabo.
A Different Kind of Tennis Tournament
One of the best things about the Los Cabos Open is the timing.
Most of the main matches are played later in the day, once the strongest heat begins to fade. By evening, the stadium lights are on, the temperature is more comfortable and the event takes on an entirely different energy.
You can spend the day at the beach or on the golf course, have an early dinner and still make it to the evening matches. It feels less formal than many professional tournaments, yet the level of play is every bit as serious.
The setting also makes a difference. Watching professional tennis beneath the Baja sky, just minutes from the Sea of Cortez, gives the tournament a personality of its own. It doesn’t feel like an event that could simply be moved to another city and remain the same. Los Cabos is part of the experience.
Ten Years of Professional Tennis in Cabo
The tournament was first held in 2016 and has since welcomed a strong list of international players.

The Venue at Cabo Real
The Cabo Sports Complex is located at Kilometer 18.5 of the Tourist Corridor, in the Cabo Real area. Its central location makes it convenient for residents and visitors coming from either Cabo San Lucas or San José del Cabo.
The main stadium holds approximately 3,500 spectators, with additional seating for around 1,200 in the grandstand. There are also restaurants, hospitality areas, shops and entertainment throughout the venue.
It is large enough to feel like an important international event, but still intimate enough to remain close to the action. Even from the stands, spectators can appreciate the speed of the ball, the movement of the players and the intensity that is sometimes lost when watching tennis on television.
The 2026 Tournament Schedule
The first round begins on Monday, July 27, and continues Tuesday. Second-round matches are scheduled for Wednesday, followed by the quarterfinals on Thursday, July 30.
The semifinals will be played Friday evening, with the championship match taking place Saturday, August 1.
The early rounds are usually a good choice for anyone who wants to see several players and spend more time exploring the venue. The final three nights, however, bring a noticeably stronger atmosphere as the draw narrows and every match carries greater weight.
